“Wood” You Wear it? How to Clean Your Wood Jewelry Collection

Style trends are pointing to more natural materials, specifically wood for making earrings, bangle bracelets and necklaces - include wood jewelry as the perfect pairings to winter inspired outfits (some argue wood is only appropriate for summer attire but the pairings we saw at JCK were to be admired).
“Artisans who work with wood speak of finding the singular beauty in every piece from which they craft their wares. The natural grain of the wood gives it character that only nature can provide. A lovely selection of jewelry crafted from wood has been receiving notice recently in the fashion press” (C. Sliwa).

Wood jewelry can be found in almost any trendy clothing store including Forever 21 and Macy’s as well as popular fashion magazines like Marie Claire, Town & Country and InStyle. If you’re pairing wood jewelry with a winter outfit it is best to stick with colors like tan, brown and pink.

How to Clean Wood Jewelry

Blitz wants to make sure the natural grain in your wood jewelry is highlighted, not diminished. Here are some tips to make sure your wood jewelry always looks its best.
  • Always store wood jewelry in an air-tight bag to avoid dust and moisture. You can risk damage to your wood jewelry with long exposure to water.
  • Use a non-abrasive microfiber cloth to wipe down the surface of your wood jewelry daily to avoid dust and dirt buildup.
  • Use a Blitz wood polishing cloth with natural beeswax to polish the surface of your wood jewelry. You should only need to polish once a month or as needed. Please note, the packaging will say the cloth is for use on musical instruments. These cloths are safe for any type of wood jewelry!
